Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sen-school Teacher to join our team at Woodlands and Chamberlain schools in Birmingham. This full-time role is integral to our commitment to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating environment for students with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Significant Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years' experience in a special educational needs setting, possess QTS, and be committed to delivering high-quality education and care across all aspects of the teaching role. This position offers the potential for a permanent role, subject to successful placement, and requires a full-term commitment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver personalised lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SLD, PMLD, and ASD, ensuring an inclusive approach aligned with the school's ethos of nurturing each child's potential.
- Implement and adapt teaching strategies to support students' communication, social, and emotional development, utilising a range of approaches including signing and visual supports where appropriate.
- Manage behaviour effectively, creating a safe and positive learning environment that respects each student's dignity and promotes independence.
- Carry out all aspects of the teacher role, including assessment, record keeping, and contributing to the development of personalised education plans (PEPs).
- Collaborate with colleagues, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to deliver holistic support for students.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and school events, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and the school's values of respect, inclusion, and excellence.
- Support students' transition into and within the school environment, ensuring their wellbeing and safety at all times.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour management, communication, and classroom organisation in line with the school's policies and ethos.
