We are seeking an empathetic, creative, and resilient PSHE Teacher to join our team this September. This is a vital role within our school, as Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) education forms the bedrock of our holistic curriculum.
You will be delivering tailored, engaging, and sensitive lessons to small classes of pupils who require an individualised approach to learning. Because of our students' unique profiles, you will focus heavily on life skills, emotional regulation, relationships, and online safety, adapting your delivery to match the emotional and cognitive age of each group.
This is a full-time contract running from September to December, but for a teacher who connects deeply with our ethos and our students, there is a very real opportunity for this position to transition into a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities:
Adaptive Delivery: Plan and deliver high-quality, highly scaffolded PSHE lessons that meet the diverse needs of pupils with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans).
Holistic Growth: Focus on core themes including physical and mental health, healthy relationships, personal safety, and preparing for adulthood.
Classroom Management: Maintain a calm, structured, and low-arousal learning environment, utilising positive behaviour support strategies to manage anxiety and challenging behaviours
Collaborative Support: Work closely with our internal therapeutic teams, speech and language therapists, and teaching assistants to ensure every child is supported holistically.
About You
We are looking for an educator who sees the individual behind the behaviour—someone who brings patience, authentic empathy, and a good sense of humour to the classroom.
Requirements:
Qualifications: QTS, QTLS, or a recognised teaching degree is preferred, but we also welcome highly experienced Instructor Teachers with a proven track record in alternative provision or SEN settings.
Experience: Previous experience teaching young people with SEN, particularly ASC (Autism Spectrum Conditions), ADHD, or SEMH needs.
Subject Knowledge: A strong understanding of the statutory PSHE and RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) curriculum, and the ability to adapt sensitive topics appropriately for SEN learners.
Attributes: Exceptional patience, emotional resilience, and a non-judgmental, trauma-informed approach to behaviour.
What We Offer
Small class sizes with high staff-to-pupil ratios, allowing you to build meaningful connections and make a genuine impact.
A deeply supportive, collaborative staff team who look out for one another.
Comprehensive induction and continuous training in specialist strategies (e.g., trauma-informed practice, de-escalation).
The opportunity to secure a permanent role in a thriving, progressive specialist school.…We are seeking an empathetic, creative, and resilient PSHE Teacher to join our team this September.
