Zen Educate is seeking a dedicated, resilient, and experienced English and Literacy Teacher to support in a specialist setting catering to students with challenging behaviours and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging and differentiated English and Literacy lessons tailored to the needs of students with behavioural and emotional challenges.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and positive relationships.
- Support students in developing core literacy skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening, in line with national curriculum standards.
- Collaborate effectively with pastoral staff, SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies to develop and implement individualised education and behaviour plans.
- Use restorative practices and trauma-informed approaches to manage behaviour positively and effectively.
- Track progress and contribute to personalised targets and interventions, ensuring academic and personal development goals are met.
- Provide consistent routines, firm boundaries, and creative strategies to re-engage learners in education.
Essential Criteria:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Proven experience teaching English and Literacy, preferably in alternative provision, PRU, or SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) settings.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Empathy, patience, and a firm but fair approach to behaviour support.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- High expectations for student progress and a belief in every pupil’s potential.
Desirable:
- Additional training in de-escalation, Team Teach, MAPA, or other behaviour intervention strategies.
- Experience with restorative practices or trauma-informed education.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection protocols.
